CyberGhost VPN is one of the most advanced, secure and sophisticated VPN tools on the market. Here’s why:
When it comes to VPNs, it’s a bit like cars. A Mercedes model from 2020 may be one of the best cars in the world. But when a competitor, such as BMW, releases the April 2021 model, it’s not just fancier, it’s even ahead in technology.
This is similar to CyberGhost VPN. While our review of NordVPN and Co. is up-to-date and continually being tested by us, it is currently outperforming the current version of CyberGhost for its superior technology, usability and system compatibility.
Who is behind CyberGhost VPN?
A brief background on how CyberGhost managed to overtake its competitors in the last few years:
The once German-run company Mobile Concept GmbH already had high quality standards in terms of technology and data protection a few years ago, and was already one of the top VPNs Providers in the market. Recently, the company was transferred to technology giants Kape Technologies PLC – a London-based company focused solely on cyber and online security.
The result is VPN software at an unbeatable price. We expect this positive trend to continue in 2022 and we will keep CyberGhost VPN under constant surveillance.

CyberGhost achieved its success by allowing users to access streaming providers. In the community, CyberGhost is being touted as the best VPN provider when it comes to streaming. A high number of users claim to have access to numerous paid streaming services with CyberGhost. Not just Amazon Prime USA/Japan, Netflix and Hulu, but other commercial streaming providers as well. CyberGhost has therefore optimized its dashboard only for streaming service providers:

- CyberGhost VPN with Hulu USA
- CyberGhost VPN with Netflix USA
- CyberGhost VPN with Amazon Prime USA
- CyberGhost VPN with Amazon Prime Japan
- CyberGhost VPN with HBO USA (HBONOW ™)

Installing and Operating CyberGhost
Installing CyberGhost is easy on both PC and the Mac. The downloaded EXE file on the PC, which is uploaded directly from the CyberGhost website to the home computer, is a small file that works just like any other application. After the successful execution of the file, the software installs itself automatically and can immediately start its service. We successfully tested CyberGhost on Windows, but it also works flawlessly on older Windows versions – as well as on the MacBook Pro (here it runs the Installation very similar to it running on a PC).
After installation, no unnecessary registry entries are left. CyberGhost now runs in the background of windows and does not burden any programs running. Only the “CG7Service” service remains ready until the next activation and has no negative impact on the Windows system. CyberGhost is one of the best VPN tools when it comes to not burdening your computer.
Many of the large and established VPN providers share the anonymous VPN servers with each other. For example, NordVPN also uses the same servers as CyberGhost in many ways and vice versa. Previously, VPN Providers had mainly established their own servers, which led to enormous effort and costs, and were also dependent on how well the respective VPN provider managed their own server. Fortunately, these times are over.
A large number of VPN servers have been established in the market and license their services to selected VPN providers. These VPN servers are equipped with the most up-to-date and fastest connections, and also offer a range of security features in terms of anonymity and immunity of the users. At CyberGhost, we noticed that well-known and reputable VPN servers are being accessed and thus speeds can be achieved of up to 1000 Mbit. At a speed of 1000 Mbps, the VPN server is basically faster than what most homes have – most households have between 50 and 100 Mbps. In our CyberGhost VPN test, we reached between 20 and 50 Mbps, and for a few averaged 6 Mbit. Even this is still enough to download a 1080p HD movie over a 2-minute torrent network and Blue Ray movies under 4 minutes. Talking about CyberGhost with Torrent – CyberGhost even has high-speed servers for torrents to ensure a fast connection:
In addition, CyberGhost still has its own servers as well, which they continue to manage themselves. This keeps a certain amount of control over your own servers – for example, CyberGhost offers dedicated VPN servers that only guarantee Netflix. While streaming and surfing the Internet (like watching YouTube), there are no differences in speed from the in-house Internet connection.
The Kill Switch is now standard in modern VPN software tools and is one of the most important features of VPN software. Kill Switches ensure that if a VPN server or software fail, the user does not suddenly unveil their IP. This can be problematic.
For example, for long uploads/downloads if you want to stop in the middle of the process just because the VPN server is down, then the Internet connection automatically switches back to the old IP again.
The kill switch from Cyberghost promises that even if the VPN server fails or the software crashes, the users’ IP will still be disguised. We carefully checked this promise: In existing VPN connections, we used CyberGhost and their services with forced switch off at the same time. And lo and behold: CyberGhost did what it promised, and the VPN connection persisted. Next we uninstalled CyberGhost VPN and all it’s services. However, the connection to the VPN server was still available.
CyberGhost has thus proved among all VPN servers that their security is one of the most unusual and modern features regarding the kill switch. After this experiment, we had to reboot Windows to get back to the old Internet connection. Alternatively, in such a simulated or real failure via the CyberGhost interface, you can restore the connections yourself. But mind you: the user has to intervene so that no automatic catastrophes take place – a real plus for CyberGhost.
CyberGhost VPN Value For Your Money
At only $2.25 a month, CyberGhost is one of the cheapest providers on the market. However, one must say that there are a huge number of VPN software tools on the market. While we have considered the biggest and most serious in our VPN rating, there is a variety of dubious and unknown VPN providers in the market. In some cases, prices could be below $1 per month – but then your security is at stake.
For some VPN providers who advertise with unbelievably low prices, we even found that they do not even have an established VPN connection, but merely show the user a fake dashboard to feel secure. Needless to say, we compared the price of CyberGhost only with market leaders NordVPN, Avira Phantom VPN, Hide My Ass VPN and Avast SecureLine VPN.
One of the high quality features of CyberGhost is that it’s made in German. Managed by Germans, the company has reached the highest standards of user experience and expectation, price, and quality. While many other providers come from a variety of countries such as Hungary, Bulgaria and the Philippines, German VPN providers in particular have proven to be the best at understanding users’ need for privacy, anonymity and technical reliability in many ways.
Consider this: Germany is the world champion when it comes to data protection. No other country has such a strong culture and claim to protect their own data. Last but not least, the European Data Protection Directive was heavily driven by Germany; the world’s largest hacker club, the Chaos Computer Club, comes from Germany (member of the Federal Press Conference), which stands for the privacy of users. In addition, the Pirate Party was founded in Berlin. Germany has a strong privacy culture. Where else would one find the best developers and executives who could implement their vision for a VPN tool. The answer is CyberGhost VPN.
