Having problems with Photoshop being slow? Or having some Photoshop brush problems as in it’s lagging? A lot of people seem to experience that Photoshop lagging problems when using the brush.
These Photoshop Versions are affected:
- Photoshop CS5 (lag)
- Photoshop CS6
- Photoshop CC (brush lag)
This problem mostly happens with NVidia graphic cards. It also causes lots of screen and program lags, thus Photoshop being extremely slow – and it lags other programs as well. Driver updates do not help (tried many times)
Solution to the Photoshop Lag Problem
Windows 7, 8 and 10:
Change your older Windows Versions switch from “Windows Basic” or any other scheme back to ’Windows Aero’. On newer Windows Versions such as 7, 8 and 10 go to “Control Panel” and “System”, then open the tab “Advanced”/”Settings”. Activate the check boxes “Enable Peek”. So simple that may be, that solves the problem.
Alternatives
If you do not like Windows Aero, work without the ruler (CTRL+R). when the problem comes again, press CTRL+R twice. This does not solve the problem once and for all, but it helps.
Also pressing CTRL+”-” (minimize) and CTRL+”+” (maximize) stops the lag for a while.
